Principles
Have fun, be friendly.
- a. First and foremost, the purpose of the 12th Fleet is for our members to have fun.
- b. When helping a member with new skills, be they for roleplay or Second Life (SL) trade skills, Do so in a constructive and friendly manner.
- c. Respect everyone, and give them a fair chance to speak before interjecting.
- d. Observe common courtesy.
Absolutely NO Out Of Character (OOC) drama.
- a. Leave personal baggage at the door. If it does not impact the group, it has no place on the SIM.
- b. Harassment of anyone, 12th Fleet or otherwise, will not be tolerated in any form.
- c. In Character (IC) drama is fine as long as it is kept to roleplay only.
- d. Interference with events hosted by other members will not be tolerated.
- e. If, for whatever reason, you have a personal issue with another member, resolve the matter privately. Personal drama should not be imposed on the rest of the group.
The 12th Fleet Discord server is hosted by FADM John Hartman, and use of it is subject to the Terms and Conditions he sets forth.
- a. No swearing or offensive language in Discord.
- b. Remember that Discord users may have underage family members present within earshot, so keep it “Safe for Work”.
- c. Be respectful of all members while in Discord and give them a fair chance to speak, particularly when important topics are being debated.
- d. Discrimination of anyone inside or outside of Discord will not be tolerated for any reason.
- e. Anyone who is determined to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave Discord until they are sober. Failure to comply with the request will result in ejection and possible temporary ban.
- f. Report any issues to a server administrator.
- g. Repeat offenders may be subject to progressively increasing penalties, up to and including permanent revocation of Discord usage rights.
- h. Use of Discord is not required. It is simply a tool to aid in the function of communication for the group. While Discord is a VOIP service, nobody who uses it is required to have a microphone, or participate in chat via voice, as a text based chat system is also available.
Code of Conduct
- All 12th Fleet Officers will be expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner where required by their assignment and duties. This applies to both OOC and IC activities.
- Respect the Chain of Command (CoC). While ranks are mostly a formality within the 12th Fleet, they are there for a reason. Both in IC and OOC, respect the CoC and in the event of a question or concern, go to your division’s Commanding Officer first, taking it up the CoC only if necessary.
- Respect other Officers regardless of their rank. Just because you rank highly does not give you the right to disrespect someone with fewer pips than you have. Always respect their rank.
- In the event that you have need to step away from 12th Fleet activities for an extended period of time, we request that you file a Leave of Absence (LOA) form!
- If, for any reason, you have a complaint, or other concerns, please be sure to submit it on the Comments & Complaints Form!
- When dealing with other SL, Inworldz, or OpenSim groups, be as diplomatic as possible. Remember, you are a 12th Fleet Officer, and your actions reflect on the group as a whole.
- 12th Fleet Command does not authorize, nor condone, illicit activities such as Griefing or Trolling of other players or SIMs. Any 12th Fleet member found to be participating in such actions will be subject to harsh penalties, up to and including being relieved of their duties and expelled from the group with a Dishonorable Discharge.
- The 12th Fleet has a strict policy of nondiscrimination of “non-canon” races. Both existing members and new members are permitted to use any race they may create, with the express understanding that, all created races remain balanced in the context of Star Trek. In other words, no Q, or other godlike, omnipotent races as Player Characters.
